Lyla Blue - Bristol newborn photo session

A new baby is like the beginning of all things wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities. ~ Eda J. Le Shan

Newborn babies are so special. Everyone who held one, smelled their heavenly smell, touched the silky tiny hands, saw their gaze knows how special they are... And when you look at them you think they will always be like this or you will always remember them like this, but then they surprise you by slowly unnoticeably changing and growing every day.

Beautiful Lyla Blue...

Apple and an apple tree

Once I photographed a beautiful newborn girl under an apple tree (click to see the session!). 2 years later the little girl turned into a big sister and I was privileged to photograph her again, this time together with her new little sister. And both times the apple tree had ripe red apples - what an amazing timing!

Little boy

The last 4 months have been crazy. I'm not sure what exactly happened but somehow I got totally overbooked! But I'm so glad I made time for this session in the middle of all the crazyness. I love getting to know new families but I love even more working with the families I have already photographed before. It feels great because it means I have done something right the first time. But also, it's great to see how much children have grown - little newborn girl turned into a bit sister and the family of 3 have turned into a family of 4! And as I photographed this little boy, I couldn't stop myself from comparing him to his big sister when she was a few days old herself. And how much he looks like his mum with his eyes closed and how he looks like his dad when his eyes are opened.

If you are expecting your little miracle and would love to be photographed within the comfort of your home, feel free to contact me at tamara@tphotography.co.uk for more details and to book your newborn session.

7 days new ...

I met this lovely little boy last Saturday. This is definitely one of my favourite photographs of a newborn baby that I took, so I thought I would share it with you...Peaceful, perfect, new...

I love working with children of all ages, but newborn babies have a very special part in my heart. There is this magic feeling about them. This feeling has started since my own little girls started to grow up. Before that I was just worried a baby will cry when I hold it and I was eager to pass the baby back to mum. I remember when my first daughter was born, my friends who had children all wanted a cuddle with her. I didn't understand why untill later, when she wasn't a newborn anymore and the fog of constant tiredness was gone. When she wasn't a newborn anymore, holding another newborn baby was bringing back so many emotions and memories.

It's such a short amount of time when they stay so small and seeing them grow, change, develop and learn new skills is very exciting. But with that there is another feeling of wishing the time didn't fly so fast, wishing you can freeze a moment and enjoy it a bit longer. And that's what photography gives me. I always think I will remember what they looked like at any given time, but I don't. Every time I look back at the photographs I took of them earlier, I'm surprised how much I don't remember, how much they have changed. I just wish there was also a way to capture and preserve how you feel when you hold your baby, the feeling of their soft skin when you kiss their cheek, the special smell you baby has. My girls love looking at their photographs, I was showing them some photos of them  and my almost 2 year old reached out to the screen like she wanted to pick up the baby (who was her big sister when she was a baby) and give her a cuddle. Wouldn't that be amazing if that was possible? But untill it happens, photography does it all for me. I can't feel their skin, the weights of the tiny body in my arms, can't sence their smell, but seeing the images of them being small triggers so many precious memories. And I hope it does the same for my clients.

A wee bit of heaven...

A wee bit of heaven
drifted down from above-
A handful of happiness,
a heart full of love.

The mystery of life,
so sacred and sweet-
The giver of joy
so deep and complete.

Precious and priceless,
so lovable, too-
The world’s sweetest miracle,
baby, is you.
~ Helen Steiner Rice

My favourite part of the session was watching the little tiny 10 days old baby fall asleep in her mum's arms... The way she looked a her - so much trust in her eyes.. Newborn babies are so amazing, so fragile but so strong at the same time. So dependant on their mum and dad, they find comfort in being next to those whose voices they have been listening to for many months..

Alannah

I love love love photographing new babies! Very risky though as it's impossible to hold a newborn baby and not get broody. Newborn cuddles are just heavenly. Especially if you can just hand them back to their parents and don't have to deal with the luck of sleep and tiredness :)

I love watching parents with their first baby. It's such a special time in their life. I remember how hard it was for me. I was so sleep deprived, exhausted after a very long labour, with uncomfortable and painful stitches, not forgetting to mention the initial agony of breastfeeding! The hardest thing the realisation that now I am responsible for this little fragile baby and I just got myself a new job where I work 24 hours 7 days a week with not much sleep, no lunch breaks, very occasional time off, no holidays and no pay :)  And when we were driving home from the hospital, I kept wondering why on earth women put themselves through it again and again and again? I was so overwhealmed and kept thinking why none of my friends with kids told me that it would be so hard?
Of course after a few weeks I started to see why, but those first few weeks are so so hard. So hold on, Alex and Ruth, you will get most of your sleep back and it will get easier :) Thank you for inviting me to photograph your perfect beautiful girl. I hope you will be able to look back on those images and remember this special time in your lives.
Alannah is absolutely gorgeous and you would think she is tiny but you can belive that she was 9lb when her mummy holds her! Here are some of my favourites and really there are a lot more coming in the gallery for you to choose from:

Our Klara...

So... It's a girl, Klara :)
She arrived almost 2 weeks ago and we love her so much. I have been so busy trying to keep both of my girls happy. I don't know when I will be able to go through the photos I have taken as I can't stay up late editing because I never know how much sleep I will have at night! A lot of people have asked me to post some photos of her, so I will post a couple. She is so beautiful, just like her big sister!
Love the colour of her hair but it might change....Lucy was born with dark hair and now she is blond, so who knows!

More to come... sometimes!

For Cinnamon!

It was raining yesterday, but thankfully it didn't stop our newborn session from happening, thanks to big glass doors!
Here is a little sneak peak of a little cutie pie! Baby C., she is just 9 days old now and is absolutely perfect. She was very nice to me and even gave me a smile. I just love photographing newborns even though it takes a lot of time. Every newborn is a little miracle and there is something so pure about them. And they don't stay that way long so it's a great priveledge to be able to capture them in this special time of their lives.

Just love this one - the hand wasn't planned in the photos, but it shows just how small she is :) I do have one without the hand as well, just in case :)

for Gisele

I'm slowly making my way through all the images that need to be edited... I would really help if I stopped shooting but I just can't! Now I have a lot of lot of new ones from the weekend...
These are still from before the holiday, Annie is just 12 days here:
